The origin of the fake 8-level nut

The DIN 934 nut standard has been eliminated in 2002, and it has been upgraded to the ISO 4032 "Hexagon Nut Type 1" and ISO 8673 "Type 1 Hexagon Nut-Fine Thread" standards. The nut thickness of this standard has increased, so the mechanical performance standard is adopted. According to ISO 898-2, it is stipulated that the load capacity of nuts increases with the increase of specifications, such as the grade 8 nuts gradually increase from 855MPa of M5 to 920MPa of M39. Because the size of the proof load of the nut is not only related to the production process and material, but also closely related to the thickness of the nut (that is, the number of effective thread turns that the nut and the bolt cooperate with).

Since the DIN934 standard is still the old opposite side and the thinner nut height (compared to the upgraded ISO4032 and ISO8673), the mechanical performance is still in accordance with the old DIN267-4 "Technical Delivery Conditions for Fasteners - Nut Mechanical Properties" standard. For example, "︱8︱" nuts, regardless of the size of the nut, its guaranteed load is a constant value of 800Mpa, unlike the ISO898-2 standard, the guaranteed load of the nut increases with the increase in specifications.

Therefore, in order to distinguish the mechanical performance grade of ISO 4032 nuts, DIN934 stipulates that the grade of DIN934 nuts be marked with "︱8︱" to distinguish it from the 8th grade strength grade of ISO standard.

This is a special case of the DIN standard.
